Sharon Ament has served as Director of the London Museum since 2012 and is currently leading the creation of its new home in Smithfield, due to open this November. Since joining the museum, Sharon has overseen a period of significant change, including the development of the new museum project and a programme of major exhibitions and public engagement initiatives.

She is widely recognised for her contribution to the museum and cultural sector. During her tenure, the London Museum has expanded its audiences, delivered exhibitions including Fire! Fire!, The Cheapside Hoard and Tunnel: The Archaeology of Crossrail, and played a leading role in the development of Culture Mile in the City of London.

Among her other notable appointments, Sharon is Chair of London’s Screen Archives, serves on the Court of the Worshipful Company of Bakers, is a Noyce Leadership Fellow, a member of the Conseil Scientifique of Universcience in Paris, and Chair of the International Advisory Board of Singapore’s ArtScience Museum.

Before joining the London Museum, Sharon was Director of Public Engagement at the Natural History Museum and previously held roles with the Zoological Society of London and the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust.
